Hello Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteMy response to the end of the book is that was an extreame cliffhanger. The book ended with Tally going to get the operation and then go back to the ruins and take the pill that Maddy has created. I think that in the following book Tally will recieve the operation and will take the pill but I feel that something bad is going to happen to Tally. Whether its from the pills or from her relationship with David. What do you think is going to happen in the next book??
See you later,
ab0406
Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI would rate the book a Ten because it kept my attention and I wanted to keep reading and I didn't want to put it down. The book also had a lot of 'what do you think is going to happen questions.' It was an easy read and a major edge of your seat book. My favorite part was when Tally and David so bravely waltz rigth in to Special Circumstances Headquarters just to save there friends from getting the lesions. When they were in there Tally met Shay and she was pretty. I loved her reaction to Shay being pretty. But the fight to acually have Shay believe that the Specials messed with her brain was another story.
What was your favorite part?
AB0406
Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteA question I would ask the author is, how in the world did you come up with the idea to write a story about a civilization where there are pretties and uglies? I loved the book but I was wondering what sort of event would spark an idea like that. Maybe a beauty pagent or something where there are "pretties" and "uglies". What event do you guys think of where there are 'pretties' and 'uglies'?
See ya later alligators,
AB0406
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI would give this book a 8. I would give it that because it was a really good book, but it was so long and it was annoying for me to have to worry about finishing it in time making it hard to enjoy. But Overall i thought it was a great book and now I want to read the book the pretties.
Goodbye for now!
RH0530
Dear bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI would give the book a 9 because I think that it was unique and different. It was catchy in a way because this one big world had so many different worlds. This book made me want to keep reading, and find out what happens next. I am excited to read the pretties because the end kept me wanting to read more.
~MW0423~ =D
RH0503,
ReplyDeleteYes the book was long but I think it needed to be long because if it wasn't then I don't think we would have gotten all the points the author was trying to get across. I understand that it could have been annoying for you to have to rush to get the reading done but I think after you get into a book it tends to be harder to put down right?
Thanks for the opinion,
AB0406
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteThe end of the book was very unexpected. The last thing that I guessed was that Shay would be turned pretty. Then Tally turned pretty! That was way off all my other predictions. I am going to start The Pretties as soon as possible. I wonder if Tally remembers that they put leisers in your brain or not. It sounds like she has been having a pretty grand time in New Pretty Town. Hopefully Tally remembers why she didn't wanted to turn pretty and that she was pretty before her operation.

mb0122
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteThe end of the book was really weird knowing that tally wanted to be pretty in the very end. I mean if all that time that you would be considered an ugly you'd think that tally wouldn't want to be pretty. Especially after knowing that you would be betraying your own true friends. Now what would you guys do if you had to choose between being pretty and betraying your friends or not being pretty and
going to live to be ugly all your life with your best friends? Which would you choose?
Dear Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI would give the book an 8 because the book was really good and it left you on the edge of your seat. Tally was a character that mad me mad and she was a secret keeper which made me even more angry at her! It was cool the way the author looked into the future. I always wanted to read more when Miss Steffen told us to stop. I also want to read the pretties. I think I would suggest this to someone if they were looking for a book ! Well talk to you all later.
*MS0618*
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI give this book a 9 because I thought it was really good! It was really hard to stop reading at some parts and it really made you think. I also like how it is not just a girly book, but boys can read it too. I really enjoyed this book and how it has a lesson as well as a story line. I don't really find books I really like that often so this one was a good choice!!
BB0519
Dear Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteOne question I would ask Scott Westerfeld is how did he come up with interface rings. It's so crazy thinking of something that is on your belly button and tells you where and where you can't go. Also it plays music, tells you the time, tells you things about what is currently happening and ect. I image them as a belly button ring, but a little bigger. What do you guys think it looks like?
From,
mb0122
Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI meant to say made on the first one instead of mad! See you all later.
*MS018*
IM83095,
ReplyDeleteI would not be pretty and live my life as an ugly with my best friends because your friends are the most important thing you have and I don't think I would be willing to give them up. Especially just for an operation that, one gives you lesions and two, turns you pretty and perfect and flawless.
What would you do?
Sincerely,
AB0406
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteThe question that I really would like to ask the author is why didn't he ever explain how David got the scar on his eyebrow. I know it's a silly question to ask, but David makes it sound like it's something important and a really good story. I think that maybe he just forgot to include that. Did anybody else notice that he never told that story? ~OR1020
MS0618,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Tally made me mad at parts too, but I think in every book I read there is someone who makes me mad when the do something. I also want to read Pretties too. I think it will be interesting to see Tally as a Pretty and how she deals with life as a pretty also. I also think it's cool how the author looks into the future, but I still think we have the same problems today as they had in the future. What do you guys think?
Talk to ya later.
BB0519
Dear Bloggers of the Ugly Book,
ReplyDeleteMy question for the author would be, what year is this story taking place in?? Another question would be, what made you want to write a book about ugly people and they would be normal?
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI would rate this book a 9 because it never got boring. It was hard for me to put it down so I was constantly reading a head. I think that it was very creative and not like many other books. This book is kind of like the Giver. It is an alternate world that is controlled by special people. These books get me thinking about what the world would really be like if it was like this, like if it would be better or worse. I think that our world is better than the one in the book because in the book you have no options. You can't even keep your own mind! This book was very detailed and helped me paint a picture in my head of all the scenes. I think it was smart of him to have part of the ending go into the Pretties so he could keep people interested. But I personally would have liked it a bit better if he would tell us what happened to the people from the Smoke.
Talk to you later!
~mb0122~
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI think that if I had read this book right when it came out, it would have been a bad way to end it. I get the author's point and that it really makes you want to read the second book, but If I had to wait a year or so to read the second book, I think that I wouldn't be as interested in it anymore because I would have forgotten how good the first one was. I am glad that I didn't read the books until all three were out. That way, I just read them one right after another. The first time I read it, the end of the book surprised me. I didn't like the way the author made Tally leave without working things out with David. I think that Tally should have told him that she was the spy right after she threw the locket in the fire because that would show her dedication to the smoke. Things would be so much simpler because David probably would have taken it so much better because Tally wouldn't have lied to him for so much longer. I think that what Tally did was really brave. When you think about it, things would have been so much easier for Tally if she would have just waited to turn pretty. She would have never met Shay and so she would never be forced to betray the smoke and she would have never met David. I think it was good that Tally found out the truth, because if she didn't, who would? ~ OR1020
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI would rate this book a 9.5 because it really kept me interested in it even when I read it the second time. I was always predicting what was going to happen, but often I was wrong. I liked all the twists and turns. I also liked how Tally's world is so different than the world that we live in today. It's interesting how her world perceives our times as the Rusty era, making us the crazy rusties that ruened everything. ~ OR1020
ms0816,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that Tally did make me mad sometimes. She should have just told the people what was going on and they could have stopped Special Circumstances from coming. The Smokies probably would have been mad at her for a little bit, but I think they would have forgiven her because she told them about it. She was very selfish in the beginning and only wanted to be pretty. Then she realized that what she was doing was hurting a lot of people, so then she started putting others in front of herself. I did think it was good that she at least tried to get rid of the pendent even though it went off.
See ya,
*mb0122*
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteMB0112, I agree with you that the end of the book was very unexpected. I liked how all my predictions were wrong. When I first read this book I had a lot of the same questions as you! I think you're really going to like the second book. ~ OR1020
OR,
ReplyDeleteI agree that I would rate the book a 9.5 because I really like the twists and turns, but one thing I did't like about the book is that I wish the book would have had that Tally would have just wanted to be ugly with all of her friends. And I did not really get that part at all.
Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteThe end of the Uglies was some what surprising but I wasn't completely shocked either. Tally ended up receiving the operation so David's mom can try her cure. I was aware that this book has sequels, but I wish I could have gotten more information at the end of this book! This author did a great job of making people want the other books! I hope that more questions are answered in the other books!
Sincerely,
PK0913
Bloggers of the Uglies,
ReplyDeleteOne question I would ask the author (Scott Westerfeld) is where and what was your inspiration for this novel? I believe that there are a lot of good lessons and things to remember from this story. I think it can kind of show you how our world is in some people's perspectives, and helps people see earth in a different perspective. Thanks Scott!
Blog to You Later,
PK0913
Uglies,
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I would rate this book an 8 because Scott did a wonderful job of keeping your attention and time! This novel makes you want to read the books following the Uglies. I think that these traits make a great author! There are a lot of things that you can relate to your everyday life from this book. Like how your character is around people/friends/family. This was a very interesting book!
scriva più successivamente voi, (Write to You Later in Italian!)
PK0913
OR1020,
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing up David's scar! I agree that David does make it sound pretty significant. I was kind of curious why that was never really brought up either! I know it's probably a minor detail, but it could have a pretty detailed story behind it. Maybe it was too long of a story! Thanks!
Good Bye,
PK0913 An Uglies Blogger
AB0406,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you this book never had a dull moment in it. What I think will happen in the next book, AB0406, is that Tally will be in New Pretty Town and David will come back for her and she won't want to go back. I think Shay and Tally will put up a fight to go back. Then I think that something will go rong when they finally get them to come to the ruines. I think that the pill is going to cause some major brain damage and Tally isn't going to remeber the Smoke or Maddy or David! I also think Maddy will keep researching and trying to fix her. That is just my persiction. Does any one else have any perdictions? Well blog to you all later.
Sincerely,
MS0618
Dear Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteThe end of the book shocked me a little. When I read a book I always read the last sentence. Well, when I read the last sentence of the Uglies there was a lot to take into consideration of what could happen. I really liked this book a lot because it always had something that would keep you interested in the book, and not what we were having for lunch. When I was reading I never thought that Maddy would get mad for what Tally had done, but then when Az died of the specials testing him to see if they could wipe out his memory, I knew that she might have some hatered for Tally. Tally was a brave girl to risk her life on a pill that Maddy created in less then a month! She is doing it to prove to everyone that she is really not the bad guy, and she really didn't mean to activate her necklace! Everyone is treating her pretty well for knowing she was the one that destroyed the Smoke! I know Tally is scared to get the operation, and she is not looking forward to it, but we know she is doing it to help humanity! She is also showing her loved ones her love for them! Well blog to you all later!
Your Friend,
MS0618
Dear Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI really liked the book, except i really wish that the author would have kept writing at the end!! But I guess that the end probably made more people want to buy and read the Pretties. Anyway, I was shocked at the the end of the book when Tally agreed to become pretty and was willing to take the pill once she was pretty. For some reason, I have a feeling that Tally will become pretty and she won't want to take the pill, so her brain will get all messed up. But I also think that maybe Tally will take the pill, and will be able to convince Shay to take it too. She would have to be really brave to do that because Maddy warned her that this is really risky. If I was Tally, I don't think that I would be willing to risk my life by taking a pill that is sopposed to help your mind. I think that I would rather live having a messed up brain, than not live at all. What do you all think?
~MW0423~ =D
Dear bloggers,
ReplyDeleteOne question that I would ask the author about this book is what inspired him, or how did he think of all of this new technology such as the hoverboard, hovercars, crash bracelets, special circumstances, the Smoke, and pretty much everything else in the book!! Scott Westerfield must have been very creative because this is probably the most interesting, suprising, and weirdest book I have ever read, but it was really, really good. I would also ask him what other books that he has written because it has been kind of hard for me to find a really good book.
SMILE!!
~MW0423~ =D
OR,
ReplyDeleteI never did realize that we never heard the story about Davids scar! Thank you for bringing that up to me. I wonder if there will be any clues about it in the next book. Now that question is going to bug me!
~MW0423~ =D
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteMy response to the ending of the book is I had no idea that is how the book would end. It was very surprising. In a way I'm happy that Tally is going to turn pretty because that is what she wanted all along, and now she is finally going to get what she wanted except she is doing it for a good cause and not just for herself to be pretty. I also think that it was really sad that David's dad died. I didn't think that was coming but especailly i didnt think Shay would become pretty even though that was the only way they were going to let her out. I sure do hope the pills that Davids mom made works.
~AH0926
Hello everyone,
ReplyDeleteMy question for the author would be is this what he thinks the world will be like in the near future, or did he just want it to be a good story topic to write about. I'm thinking he would say both, but I would really like to know what his thought on it is.
~AH0926
Dear Readers,
ReplyDeleteI would rate this book a 7. I would rate this book a 7 because there were alot of details in the book and for me it was hard to picture everything in my head because the things in the book he talks about are just made up and you really had to imagine all these different kinds of lands and inventions and food and all different kinds of things that we dont have today. Over all I really enjoyed this book. Im sure ill be reading the next book in the series.
~AH0926
Dear ms0618,
ReplyDeleteI really agree with you that I would tell someone about this book if they didn't know what to read. I'm glad I got to read this book. It was a very creative book and I would have no idea how someone would come up with this crazy idea for a book topic. I wonder what life is going to bring for Tally when she turns pretty!
~AH0926
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteThe question I would like to ask the author is What was the time period the Rusty Ruins was in? Like was it our time, before our time, or after our time? Is anyone else curious about that. I don't why I am, but throughout the whole book I wondered that. What do you guys think??
BB0519
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteMy thought to the end of the book is interesting. I thought that Tally would stay with David and his mom. I can't believe Shay turned Pretty!!! That is shocking. She is really different because of the lesions. I really want to read Pretties because I want to know what happens to Shay, Tally, David, and even Maddy. This book was really good!! At some parts it was a little boring, but most of the time I couldn't put it down. It was really unpredictible. What do you Ugly Readers think??
Have a great day!!!
BB0519
Hey Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteMy response to the end of the book is- HOLY COW! I DIDNT SEE THAT ONE COMING! I really liked the ending of the book but I didn't really appreciate how the author just left us hanging. I think that he did that on perpose so we would read his next book The Pretties. I know that I will for sure be reading the Pretties.
RH0530
BB0519,
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe when Shay turned pretty either!! I think that it was a little hipocritical of her to turn pretty after all of her years of trashing the pretties. But I think Shay was forced to turn.
Goodbye for the last time,
RH0530
Hello Everyone,
ReplyDeleteI think that my question for the author would be about what he wanted us to pick up at the end of the book or how in the heck he came up with the idea to write about this story! It was a weird and very creative topic and I wonder if he was just sitting around the house one day and thought about uglies and pretties. I was very supprised to find out that the author of this book was a boy because it seems like a girl would have written it.
~RH0530
Dear Ugly Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteThe question I would ask the author is how did you think of all the ideas that went along with the book??? Like the inferings and the idea/plot of the whole book? Did he just wake up one day and be like I am going to write about a girl, and on her 16th birthday she has to become pretty.... Or did it take days/weeks/months/years to think of this way to make every one realize the choices you make in life, and how they influence your life in the long run! Well blog to you all later!!
♥Mckayla♥
ms,
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with that question, because if the author just threw everything together in just a month that would be pretty bad, but what i was surprised about was the voice, it was just booming to me!!! Another thing about the book was that the book was almost to long for me, I mean if the book was about 250-300 pages long that would just be perfect.
